The first pieces shown below are reasonably recent works, either commissions or from the family collection.
The images of some of my Early Works that follow them have been scanned from some the few old photos I managed to find so are not as good as the digital ones.

RECENT WORKS

JADE GECKO / ROSE QUARTZ / DIAMOND CRYSTAL PENDANT
Completed April 2010 this Jade gecko is holding a lovely piece of gem Rose Quartz.
It's eyes are Champagne coloured Diamond crystals from Venezuela.
A carving I thoroughly enjoyed creating!

WHALETAIL KORU
A recent order (Feb 2009) carved from a stone I hadn't explored much before...I was rather pleased with it.
The carvings pretty alright as well!

KOHUNGA REO SYMBOL
A recent order (Oct 2009) carved from a lovely stone.
This is the symbol for the Kohunga Reo that works to teach the Maori language.

JADE BROWN TROUT CARVING
A carving of two brown trout made of a 'Kokopu' stone , the colours matching the natural colouration of the browntrout.
The eyes are Australian Sapphires.
This piece now resides in California, USA.

A gift to my daughter Jess.
A beautiful stone from Stafford on the West Coast of the south island of NZ.

JADE DOLPHIN
I gave this pendant to my wife Pounamu. It measures 7cm high.

I gave this pendant to my daughter Rewa. It measures 3cm across.

"TOTOWEKA" JADE DOLPHIN
A dolphin I decided to keep since it was carved from one of the few pieces of Totoweka jade I found. Totoweka means "Blood of the Weka". This refers to the red streaks in the stone.
Size - 5.5cm high.

EARLIER WORKS

DOLPHIN PENDANT
Carved from one of my hardest stones. This piece took well over ten hours of hand rubbing to finish it.

TAGUA NUT DOLPHIN
A dolphin carved from the tropical Tagua Nut, also called the Vegetable Ivory Nut.

EBONY DOLPHIN
The next photos are of some early wooden dolphins I have carved. This one is carved from ebony.

RED BEECH PORPOISE
Wooden dolphin carved from Red Beech burl.

LIGNUM VITAE WHALE
Lignum Vitae is known as the tree of life and is also the hardest wood in the world. This was carved from a recycled bowling ball.

PURIRI FISHHOOK   (Hei Matau)
I started carving in wood. This is an early fishhook carved from a piece of Puriri, one of NZ's hardest timbers.

MOTHER OF PEARL FISHHOOK
When in Dunedin in the early 90's I bought and started carving Mother Of Pearl.This fishhook was carved from a piece of Yellow Lipped Mother Of Pearl shell.

Since I enjoy fishing it's no wonder I've carved a lot of fishhooks over the years. Here are a few examples.
